Happy New 2nd Year ~ Sunset Rotary!

It will be my honor to serve as your President for the coming 2009-2010 year. I want to Thank all of the previous Officers and Directors for their excellence in serving during our first and critical year.

This year's slate of officers is excellent and we will all work together to continue the work and objectives of Rotary. I have outlined our Plans and Objectives for the coming year:

• Continue as a Star Club in support of the Rotary Foundation
• Increase club membership to 55 members
• Have an attendance average of 80% or better
• Participate in an International Project
• Participate in joint-fund raisers with the other Oak Ridge clubs
• Win District awards in Community and International service along with becoming a Star and Globe Club for a 2nd year.
• Receive the RI Presidential Citation and District Governor's Citation awards
• Create a Fund Raiser to raise $3,000 or more for community projects and participate in the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation for the Eradication of Polio.
• Encourage new members to become Paul Harris sustaining members and the club to become a 100% PHF sustaining club.
• Increase awareness in the community about our club and its projects through our Public Relations Committee
• Help in hosting a GSE team
• Conduct at least 2 sessions of Rotary College
• Expand the Science Fair Project to extend an invitation to promote this project to all elementary schools in Oak Ridge with this project to become a city-wide Science Fair

This year's theme: THE FUTURE OF ROTARY IS IN YOUR HANDS challenges us as a club to have friendly and well run meetings, to conduct service projects that support our community, to induct members who are qualified, honest, and respected in their vocations. This is what will make our club thrive and grow.

Water, health and hunger and literacy will be the emphasis in the year ahead. John Kenny RI President from Scotland has stated, "that we must look beyond our own home and community and we must be aware that there is work to be done and we cannot stand idly by."

As Rotarians, we accept our responsibility. Will you join me in this responsibility this year...
